This position will lead Pan-American’s US Group Actuarial reserving, financial reporting and forecasting efforts. For reserving, this role will be responsible for all monthly reserve file updates for our US Group Actuarial division and creating the final reserve entries for the general ledger. Reserve types include group hospital indemnity, dental, life, stop loss, special markets, and accident reserves. Regular review and enhancement of the reserve models is also part of the role. For financial reporting, this role is responsible for all Quarterly and Annual Statement Statutory Reporting including signing the Actuarial Opinions. This role will interact with external auditors to provide them with information as needed. For forecasting, this role will lead in developing forecast files on a quarterly basis and assist lead actuaries in setting forecast assumptions.
Job Duties

Reserving – US Group
- Lead Actuarial data gathering and reserve development effort for US Benefits, US Accident, and Special Markets - products including Hospital Indemnity, Rx, Dental, Medical Accident, Stop Loss, Group Accident Trucking Occ Acc, Individual Accident, STM, Gap, Med Supp for in-house business and MGU business
- Prepare Reserve Comparison Files for Reserve Impact Testing
- Review reserve models annually, updating factors and methodology
- Actively seek to improve and refine reserving methodology
- Conduct Premium Deficiency Reserve tests
- Statutory Reporting – US Group
- Prepare Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Statements for US Benefits, US Accident, and Special Markets
- Prepare Quarterly Notes to Financials
- Prepare Quarterly Statements for Group Exit and Pools

Management Reporting and Forecasting– US Group
- Prepare Monthly and Quarterly Management Reporting Exhibits including Premium Reports, P&Ls and Forecasts
- Improve the quality of forecast files
- Develop additional forecasting and reporting tools
- Assist in development of overall Special Markets, US Accident, and US Benefits forecast
- Create coordination between forecast files and budget files
- Assist with the budget process as needed
Process Efficiency and Reconciliation
- Improve process efficiency and timeliness of deliverables
- Lead data reconciliation process for US Actuarial team
- Reconcile accounting and source system numbers
Other tasks as assigned
- Manage or actively participate in projects as assigned, outside the normal scope of current job function
- Train other actuaries in the US Group Actuarial team on reserve processes and coordinate with them as needed.
