Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Telephone Operator.

In this role, the successful candidate With some supervision, this position is responsible for processing incoming and outgoing calls as they are received. Operates telephones, public address and paging systems, and maintains records and daily logbooks.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Answer and process incoming/outgoing calls as they are received.
  • Transfers call to the correct person / department.
  • Provides approved Medical Center patient information.
  • Complies with Medical Center policies when paging overhead.
  • Places calls for in-house and long-range pagers.
  • Notify Medical Center departmental on-call staff as requested.
  • Ensures that Administrative/Department Head staff is notified immediately.
  • Activates the Medical Center’s Emergency Notification System.
  • Maintains operators’ computer console
  • Utilizes department’s on-call schedules using computer console.
  • Maintain physicians’ house status.
  • Participates in all departmental staff meetings.
  • Makes recommendations regarding departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assists with orientation and training of new hires.
  • Encourages teamwork and a collaborative work environment.
  • Communicates with staff at the change of each shift.
  • Assists callers professionally, utilizing effective volume, tone, inflection and voice etiquette.
  • Maintains a positive attitude towards callers, the Medical Center and all staff members.
  • Conveys ideas and information clearly and correctly.
  • Maintains good working relationships with all staff members.
  • Responds to changes in the workplace and is able to adjust work habits accordingly.
  • Demonstrates Medical Center’s Core Values at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High school diploma or equivalency
Ability to read and write, understand and follow written and verbal instructions
Effective communication skills ability to transmit information orally in the form of simple sentences
Professional telephone etiquette, pleasing tone, volume, inflection
Professional interpersonal skills
Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 80% of work time when answering, transferring and relaying calls and delivering messages

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
