Summary

The Campus President is responsible for the overall management of all interests, activities, and finances for all Spartan campuses in the State of California. The Campus President works closely with the parent company’s Executive Leadership, Board of Directors, and Investment Partners, and owner entities and is responsible for designing and implementing programs that foster college growth and financial security for his/her assigned campus. The reputation and success of the college is the direct responsibility of the Campus President. The Campus President must plan and coordinate the specified campus’s activities to assure success in all aspects of College operations. The Campus President is responsible for strategic planning, financial management, future campus development and related strategic-level activities using the human, financial analytical and technological resources available to his/her authority and consistent with company policy.


Essential Functions

  • Responsible for direct supervision and mentoring of all campus functional Directors and Managers
  • Responsible for campus outcomes with an acquired understanding of departments’ roles and functions, policies, and procedures.
  • Responsible for the financial security and operational solvency of the campus
  • Develops strategic plans and goals to ensure future campus direction.
  • Assures preparation and presentation of accurate and timely term forecasts of expenses for corporate approval within guidelines established for submissions.
  • Monitors actual expenses vs. Budgets as appropriate through analysis of accounting reports and ensure financial controls and direction are implemented at the campus level.
  • Establishes and communicates accountabilities and performance expectations for all direct reports.
  • Assures that all staff under direct reports have established and communicated accountabilities and performance expectations.
  • Assures that performance appraisals are conducted on time.
  • Identifies needs and promotes both in-house and off-site training for direct reports to foster their personal and professional development and growth.
  • Is cognizant of the company’s EEO/legal objectives and selects staff with objectives in mind without sacrificing the integrity or quality of the selection process.
  • Provides opportunities for and ensure the development of top managers at the assigned campus to build a viable succession strategy at the campus.
  • Recruits and hires new talent for the campus to ensure a steady stream of qualified replacements exists on each campus.
  • Evaluates needs and issues and ensures that actions to rectify those are undertaken in a timely fashion.
  • At least annually, evaluates staffing levels, divisions of responsibility, and organizational structure with respect to the number of potential recruits and marketing activity across the region.
  • Establishes and evaluates periodic progress reviews to assure results are monitored and corrective action applied to maintain acceptable results.
  • Conducts regular evaluations of operations on campus to ensure quality management of students and financial outcomes at assigned campus.
  • Evaluates needs and create campus ‘annual operating plan and report and identifies areas where cross-campus representation as appropriate on corporate task forces and teams.
  • Participates in Spartan and Spartan system-wide meetings, as directed, to gather information and provide perspective to issues and plans of a corporate nature.
  • Motivates subordinates to see ways to provide assistance to department or campuses in achieving operating objectives not necessarily under direct control of accountability.
  • Identifies ways campuses and/or department may assist in meeting accreditation agency accountabilities and solicit support to gain assistance.
  • Promotes a positive image and attitude for college and other departments, including positive attitude toward all company employees.
  • Works closely with Spartan corporate partners to ensure compliance with all Spartan and Spartan policies, related local, state, and federal regulations that pertain to all aspects of campus operations, practices, and activities. Federal Campus-Based Aid Award Federal Supplementary Educational Opportunity Grant (FSWOG) and Loans to future student based on written policy.
  • Ensures that students have an appropriate faculty member to teach course based on student progress and incoming students.
  • Responsible for the successful operation of both the main and branch campus based on student progress and incoming students.
  • Responsible for the successful operation of both the main and branch campus locations in the CA market
  • Establishes a culture of positive communication and management of employee expectations.


Accountabilities:

  • Leadership: Performance is successful when annual growth targets for the fiscal year are met for the assigned campus.
  • Direct Cost Control: Performance is successful when actual campus costs are within budgeted expense parameters.
  • Staff Management and Development: Performance is successful as determined by an appraisal of established performance expectations and objectives.
  • Planning, Organizing, Controlling, and Reports: Performance is successful as determined by appraisal of established performance expectations and objectives.
  • Teamwork: Performance is successful as determined by appraisal of established performance expectations and objectives.


Education and Work Experience

  • Master’s degree required.
  • 3 years previous experience working at an executive level in a proprietary college or university or 10 years general industry experience culminating in a general management role.
  • Relevant industrial experience will include some combination of these characteristics: service industry, consumer-based; for-profit; training or technology-related; and/or decentralized operations.
  • A demonstrated track record of success at the campus level, plus successful and consistent leadership and contribution to corporate efforts are both required.
