University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB ("UEC") supports the university's educational mission by providing quality services that complement the instructional program. The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We're responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects.

Position Summary

Temporary, full time, "non-exempt", benefited position through 6/30/2024 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance).

Salary: $4,506.58-$4,939.91 per month

Location: Palm Desert

Work Schedule

40 hours per week. Typically, Monday-Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm though some nights, weekend work may be required.

Typical Activities

Under minimal supervision of the School of Social Work Director, the Business Manager will work independently to:
  • Provides administrative support to ensure efficient operation of office.
  • Answers phone calls, schedules meetings and supports visitors.
  • Carries out administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning etc.
  • Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Take accurate minutes of meetings
  • Develop and update administrative systems to make them more efficient
  • Resolve administrative problems
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning administrative projects and expediting work results.
  • Makes travel arrangements for senior staff such as booking flights, cars, and hotel or restaurant reservations.
  • Exhibits polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, and mail.
  • Supports team by performing tasks related to organization and strong communication.
  • Develops administrative staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Provides information by answering questions and requests.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 1 year administrative assistant
  • Other:
    • Knowledge of appropriate software including: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat
    • Applicants must possess the following critical strengths including, but not limited to reliability, attention to detail, and strong self-initiative.
    • Professional demeanor and must have the ability to work with diverse populations.
    • Applicants must have good interpersonal and communication skills along with excellent customer service skills.
    • Applicants must possess a thorough knowledge of correct English grammar, spelling, punctuation, as well as knowledge of office methods, procedures, and practices.
